You are invited to celebrate with us! Enjoy a delicious menu including tacos, berry dessert, and strawberry juice! Hosted by the Indigenous Space Committee of the Ferguson Forest Centre Corporation and sponsored by the Municipality's Indigenous Advisory Circle, all proceeds from this event will go towards creating an Indigenous forest space in the Ferguson Forest Centre. In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, the Ferguson Forest Centre Corporation has partnered with Indigenous residents of North Grenville to create an Indigenous commemorative site at the Ferguson Forest Centre Arboretum. The vision for the site has been designed by Finian Paibomesai, a local artist. The dedicated site is designed to recognize the culture, traditions and history of the area which is part of the Algonquin territory. It is a welcoming and open space that will be used to celebrate Anishinaabe culture and as a site for cultural events. The site is designed in the form of a medicine wheel which is symbolic of the four elements fire, earth, water and wind. The medicine wheel is also a symbol that contains many teachings about Mino-Bimaadiziwin, which means a way to live a good life. The site will be used to share traditional Anishinaabe teachings with local residents and will be a gathering space for community to acknowledge important days for the Anishinabek people. It will be a site for gathering, meeting, learning and reflection. Location
